Fairytale Afternoon Tea with Navy Blue and Jet Black

On 7th February, our Nursery and Reception Classes joined forces and held their very own Fairytale Afternoon Tea Party. In the weeks prior to the party, the children participated in a variety of lessons and school trips dedicated to the focus topic of Fairytales - where they learnt all about our favourite heroes, heroines and fairytale creatures.

With special help from our friends at Vintage Lindy Lou - who donated crockery for the event - parents were divided by class and invited by the children to attend our tea party: fuelled with sandwiches, cakes, shortbread, tea, coffee and other lovely goods! Meanwhile, in the upstairs hall, parents were also invited in to see our model classroom. With designated learning zones like: reading stations, building stations, design stations and general play stations, parents were able to witness their child's learning in action! (and were even lucky enough to hold our newborn baby chicks!).

A message from Miss Gale...

Jet Black have worked so hard this half term in order to arrange our Fairytale Tea Party. This has been a 5 week progressive process for the children, at the start of the half term the children decided to design their own family crest, they used various materials and the results look fantastic. We then used our phonic knowledge to write and design menus and invitations to our loved ones and invite them to our Tea Party. The children decided to provide food for their loved ones at the tea party, in order to provide this food the children went on a trip to Sainsbury's and bought the ingredients. The children wrote shopping lists and suggested what they would like to buy. Two days before the Tea Party the children spent both days making cakes and play dough using the ingredients they bought on their school trip. Well done Jet Black!!
